Our Story
Basso's Pizza Parlour was established in August 2024
by Andrew Basso and Louise Funnell.
Andrew started his professional chef journey - when he was only seventeen - at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall back in 2007. After graduating with a Distinction, he left for a work placement in New York, arranged by Fifteen Cornwall. This is where he was mentored by pizza experts and fell in love with New York style pizza, thinking "one day, I'll open my own New York pizza parlour back in my hometown". After an impressive history of helping restaurants all around Cornwall start, grow and delight their customers (you'll still see a surprising amount of Andrew's recipes and dishes on menus all over Cornwall!) he decided to do things his way.

Louise is the engine behind Basso's Pizza parlour, working full time elsewhere and working her days off to support Andrew, her hard work is what keeps it all going.
Louise and Andrew met at Fifteen Cornwall where they both worked in 2016, they both have a silly amount of passion for food, wine, cocktails, coffee and obviously customer service.
